Alternative Dispute Resolution

The consumer may submit their complaint or any dispute to alternative dispute resolution through the entities responsible for the protection and promotion of consumer rights, namely the Direção-Geral do Consumidor, as well as the Rede Nacional de Arbitragem Institucionalizada (RNCAI), which includes the centros de arbitragem de conflitos de consumo authorized to carry out information, mediation, conciliation, and arbitration activities, pursuant to Law No. 144/2015 of September 8, as amended. The decision of the arbitration process has the legal effects of a decision issued by a first instance court.

This solution is generally a faster, simpler, and less costly way for consumers to resolve their disputes without resorting to the judicial courts.
